Yoga

What most people refer to as simply "yoga" is actually Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga is a system of yoga that includes Asanas, or physical postures, as part of its eight limb path practice. The word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" which represents the qualities of masculine, solar or energizing and "tha" representing the qualities of feminine, lunar or relaxing. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj which means to yoke or unite. Thus, Hatha Yoga is designed to unite opposites in our system through physical poses or Asanas.

Our classes link several asanas or poses together to create strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. This is known as Vinyasa, meaning “to place in a special way." Our classes effectively work all parts of the body equally providing an experience of non-judgment and non-competition for our clients.

We also utilize Pranayama or breathing techniques, and Meditation to connect mind and body more fully thus deepening the experience.

Classes are designed so that students of all experience levels can participate.
