Meditation
Meditation is about focus and retraining the mind. It transforms the individual through a practice that trains the mind to shift the awareness away from the constant train of thoughts about everyday life and focus its attention on a single object. The object of focus can be any number of things such as the breath, a repeated phrase or mantra, a physical object such a flame or picture, or someone’s voice. This can be very challenging in the beginning and may only be accomplished for very short periods of time. This is typical. With continued practice however, the amount of time focusing on the object increases and becomes easier bringing a quieting of the mind.
Everyday new studies are published outlining the benefits of meditation. Just a few of those benefits are: reduced anxiety and stress levels, increased awareness, decreased blood pressure, reduced chronic pain, reduction of cardiovascular problems, improved productivity and increased athletic performance.
The classes we offer are designed to teach students about what meditation is and is not, how to meditate, the benefits of meditation and the common challenges we all face when learning to meditate. We offer a peaceful and relaxing environment conducive to learning how to meditate and a place to continue your meditation practice.
Our instructors goal is to share their passion for the mind/body awareness by teaching others how to attain mental balance and peace.
